Boss Media Operations May Be Shut Down In Malta

Some time ago TrillionPoker was kicked off its network by Boss Media for “rakeback violations”, and Trillion was trying to slander Boss Media and all that was an act of revenge more than a rightful court lawsuit. PokerTrillion has imposed effectively its litigation against Boss Media, the result of which is a ruling that may bring down all of poker activities of Boss Media in Malta.

Therefore, if you have wanted to open an account at any Boss Media poker room that is licensed in Malta, you need to think once again. According to Judge Gino Camilleri’s ruling, Boss Media must shut its servers in Malta by 18 September. And the problem is that Boss Media can’t lodge an appeal.

The Malta gambling authority is known to be the strictest internet gambling licensing and regulatory body worldwide, but nobody could have predicted that the court went so far. Boss Media told its players that a destruction of the company’s Malta operations was utterly unlikely and that an “award of damages” would also be unlikely with respect to the ?20 Million lawsuit lodged by TrillionPoker.

Boss Media has already assured players that they won’t shut down their operations and that assets are not frozen (TrillionPoker made this claim in the past). The Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority hold all player assets under its control and they can’t be seized by a court.

However, Boss Media hasn’t confirmed nor denied if the freezing order applies to the company’s operations in Malta now.
