ePassporte Leaving the Field of U.S.
All American poker players may lose one more payment method if ePassporte makes a decision to leave the USA. Though this is a rumor still, players at several poker sites have already started to make preparations in order to transfer their funds.
Cake Poker and Full Tilt, online poker rooms, reported that they had got a notification from ePassporte based in California that they wouldn’t longer provide withdrawal and deposit services to their customers. ePassporte management just decided that it was not worth it to risk being closed for activities they didn’t deem illegal.
Nobody can really blame ePassporte for such a decision, which has been made because of a widespread investigation of internet gambling in the United States conducted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
In many ways, ePassporte was the replacement eWallet for American gamblers. Nobody knows for sure how close, the US Attorney’s Office is examining ePassporte for that matter. Though, the risk of such possibility is too high for the company.
ePassporte seems to choose somewhat of an dubious time for pulling out of the American online casinos gambling market bearing in mind all the negative criticism that have lately been falling upon the UIGEA, especially by the House Financial Services Committee and the American Bankers Association.
Non-American players won’t have any problem finding other e-wallets such as PayPal and Neteller that offer world’s service that fund online gambling. Sorry to say those who live in the USA are going to have hard times in order to find another way to obtain their money from and to their favourite poker rooms and online casino.
