Ireland Maybe Reform Its Casino Gambling Law

Nobody could bring into question the fact that online gambling is boom on the web over past recent years. A lot of countries have made the decision to change their anti casino gambling laws and displace them with gambling regulation. With regard to the recent events, Ireland seems to be choosing a regulated casino gambling on the internet.

Dermot Ahern, the new Minister for Justice, Equity and Law Reform, has stated that the laws that concern casino gambling which have been in force till present days have passed their expiration date. Nevertheless, Ahern isn’t going to act too speedily, because he believes that first it is necessary to consult with the community and work out a cross-party agreement.

Ahern’s suggestions concerning the potential gambling law reform are in sharp contrast to the views of the former Minister, Michael McDowell. The last thought that all the sites that provide casino gambling activities for Ireland citizens (for example, online Blackjack or Roulette, of which there’re as many as 50) must be closed down straight away. Ahern states that it is currently becoming impossible to prohibit online casino gambling sites completely. So, proper regulation of online gambling is a need and the fairest solution. Ahern’s views are thought to be very close to Barney Frank’s views concerning the UIGEA.

A Casino Regulatory Committee appointed by the former Minister McDowell has already made a thorough report on internet casino gambling. Ahern has assured that this report will be released in a little while, but plans concerning the regulation of casino gambling have not been made yet.
