Andreas Jörbeck, 36 years old is the PartyPoker’s Late Night Poker 2008 winner! Merely an online qualifier defeated famous pros at the final table.

Jörbeck said in his interview that to win such a prestigious contest as Late Night Poker when there were European top professionals at the table in his first live event was really something. Jörbeck has played online poker for 4 years with comparatively modest stakes. He added that he never thought that something similar could happen to him.

Jörbeck defeated Roland de Wolfe heads up and he was all the time the underdog throughout this final. De Wolfe seemed to be the possible winner throughout just to go card dead up to the end. All through Roland played well in fact but Jörbeck began relaxing and playing more aggressively when they were three handed. Heads up the power balance swung several times before Andreas Jörbeck put the killer blow on the pro. He held A10 and de Wolfe had K3. The flop brought AAK and the Jörbeck ’s set made him the winner. Roland was courteous in defeat: “I actually fancied it but finally it just was not my day.”

A spokesman of the PartyPoker said: “The achievement of Andreas is enormous taking into consideration that all the players at the final table were aggressive pros and that Jörbeck was the only qualifier that made the final. It is also worth giving Roland de Wolfe his due – the runner-up in the Premier League and Late Night Poker is highly impressive.”

The prize pool was 335,000 dollars with 125,000 dollars that go to the eventual winner. Forty nine players paid a 5000 dollars buy-in together with 10 online qualifiers that won the seats in exclusive internet tournaments on PartyPoker.
