Online Casino dispute between Antigua and USA coming to the End

These days Dr Errol Cort, Antigua’s Minister of Finance and Economy, is coming to the USA in order to elucidate the exceptional claim that they’ve got on $21 million as they lost revenue from online casino gambling industry, the industry that is especially important for Antigua. This Caribbean state hosts a lot of the online casino gambling companies. Errol Cort will meet with Susan Schwab, the US Trade Representative, in Washington for long and hopefully successful talks on a promising solution.

The deal began last year, when Antigua accused the USA of violating the free trade agreements that they signed with the WTO. Antigua stated that the United States banned casino sites to operate in the US and thus the American citizens can’t play at global internet-based casino sites. World Trade Organization took Antigua’s side in this case and decreed that, the USA should compensate Antigua with $21 million. However, Antigua isn’t happy with such compensation as this is just a part of the amount of $3.44 billion they pursued at first.

Antigua and Barbuda isn’t the only nation that is suing the USA for violating the Free Trade Agreement. Now a lot of the countries of Europe interested in the online casino gambling industry want to follow Antigua’s example. We shall see from the coming negotiation between the USA and Antigua what direction the wind is blowing and what the USA is going to take not to be swept over by law suits from all the corners of the world.
